Heaven
The shift to heaven in the twinkling of an eye.
The dramatic mood and light as I wave goodbye.
Lifted past Everest and stars where no one can reach,
Except by salvation, where the Lord’s land of speech —
By his word we were created, by his word elevated.
Sinners cling to clouds, weeping, pleasure truncated.
I pass them, blow kisses but they swear and swat them away.
The light in me from heavenly glow still hoped to sway
Those lost to him. Clouds become steps of diamond delight.
I climb effortlessly, hearing sweet sounds of wings in flight.
I reach heaven’s pearlescent gate, with invitation in hand.
No need to knock, I’m expected. The choir sings, the glorious band
plays music that has colors. Sight and sound, magnificently connected.
Tears now flow from me as I see, in all his glory, the resurrected.
The room overflows with my own generation - family, friends, celebrities,
Also the obscure and hidden gems — all of them — life’s complexities.
There’s no hurry here but to enjoy, reminisce about angels in disguise.
Hugs and kisses each have their chance, and still not the best surprise.
I’m shown my mansion. It will take me a long time to explore.
It’s breathtaking! It tickles every nuance of my soul to the core.
Silver and golden books, trees of every kind, flowers and scent
so penetrating, providing me instantly with unceasing contentment.
Jasper walls, city of pure gold, city walls of precious stones,
twelve pearl gates, golden streets like transparent glass and no bones.
God’s glory lights up the magnificent city that is illuminated with blessings.
No curses, nor darkness, no death, no tears, perfect, no second guessing.
