Hearts of Stone

Sometimes in pain
with tearful eyes,
from being a victim
of someone’s lies.

Believing in a person
they thought was a friend,
not knowing the love
would come to an end.

By being prey
of another’s deceit,
they shy away
from others to meet.

In their own little world
where no one comes in,
so they’ll never be sad
or hurt again.
