Hearts

In this land of broken hearts
there are those who have learned the arts
to destroy everything that we have worked for
to break us down to our core
to make us weak
and they continue to wreak
havoc on this world
but, there is a girl
that I wish to save
from the darkness...but I'm not brave
I'm not fearless
but I have to be strong, unless
I succumb
to the numb
to the cold
and become old
without saying how true
it was when I said I love you

Three little words so many find easy to say, until they have to prove they meant what they said. Excellent piece and an enjoyable read.
