Hearts
There are hearts that are cold and hearts that are warm
And hearts that, somehow, still wait to be born.
There are hearts that are broken and waiting to mend
And hearts so afraid they will break, they won’t bend.
There are big ones and small ones and some in-between.
Some are apparent and some can’t be seen.
Some are transparent and some open wide,
And others will not let the light slip inside.
There are hearts that are shadowed and hearts that are bright.
Some like to love and others will fight.
There are hearts that are beating and hearts that are still
And some do it all and some never will.
There are loud ones and silent, smart ones and dumb.
Some that can feel and some that are numb.
Some that move quickly and some that are slow
And some that there’s no way that we’ll ever know.
Some hearts are gentle and some hearts are rough.
Some hearts are sexy and all of that stuff.
Some that are weary, some rarin’ to go.
Some are mature while others won’t grow.
Some that like mornings and some that like sleep.
Some that will laugh while others will weep.
Some hold together and some fall apart
But what it comes down to is we all have hearts…
There are hearts that can travel and hearts that stay home.
And some are together and some are alone.
There are hearts that are grounded but eager to fly
And hearts that can easily soar through the sky.
There are happy ones, sad ones and ones that aren’t sure.
Some are be-deviled while others are pure.
Weak ones, strong ones, young ones, and old.
Some are of paper, others are gold.
