Heart To Heart

Liberated spirit, keep up the fight
acquiesce not to the world foray,
where darkness is deemed to be light.

It would be easy to lose your newly found sight,
and follow people’s popular precipitous way.
Liberated spirit, keep up the fight.

Steel yourself against the wolf’s sharp bite,
Clothed in sheep’s fair wool today,
Where darkness is deemed to be light.

Ask for help from the heavenly Might,
And bend your ear to Wisdom’s say,
Liberated spirit, keep up the fight.

Mistake not immorality for right,
keep verbal engineering far at bay,
where darkness is deemed to be light.

Be not depressed in this world’s plight,
Let Him lift you from where you lay.
Liberated spirit …keep up the fight,
where darkness.. is deemed to be light.

Lovelye poetry, Robert! Well done with the Villanelle, a form I have not ventured in so far. But more important is the content of this piece of writing. Inspiring! Thanks for sharing. Best wishes, Caroline.

I feel the beauty and desire to expand in this write. I can see I will appreciate reading your work and I will as soon as I get the chance (i'm so busy). Every stanza here speaks to me opening a dimension of light on my soul. In my writings, please know I have no desire to be right. I want to learn to stop reacting to stimulus which seems to be the worst predicament of man. My works are designed to remind myself of exactly what you are saying in Heart to Heart. I'll read more later. David

Very wise thoughts expressed beautifully in your villanelle, Robert. We do have to beware of wolves in sheeps clothing and use our best judgment to remain in the light. Many people do get depressed as they look at the world around us, but God is always there to provide guidance. Excellent entry for Catie's contest, my friend, and I wish you success. (As far as learning from the past, "zip" was a good way to describe it.) Love, Carolyn
