Heart Sounds

Does your heart make a sound when it is breaking?
Can you hear with your ears the sound it is making?
Does it sound like a train when it is crashing?
Or more like it hitting the water and splashing.

Is the sound so silent it is curiously deafening
And you find yourself wondering what is it thats happening
How could this much pain not cause you to scream
Shouldn't pain like this come in a violent stream

It should wrack your body in painful contortions
You should feel it all at once in enormous proportions
It should make you cry from pain that seems endless
and leave you in a helpless state of distress.

But no that"s not the sound that you're hearing
Your heart is silent when it is tearing
apart from the crushing loss that you feel
No sound at all is how you know that it's real

You suffer in silence only you know from what
No one else can hear this pain in your gut
It strikes without warning and without any symptoms
You take lots of advice but no medications

Only time can heal the pain thats inside
to heal what feels like the continental divide
but it will heal itself and you will feel better
There still is no sound as it comes back together

Your heart it is fragile and breaks when its hurt
no sound can compare to the hurt you endure
But the loudest thing that you hear when its healing
Is the sound of a new love, a wonderful feeling.
