Heart of the Sea

Your quiet whispers
come with the breeze
are you missing her?
Your sorrow spans the seas

The waves lapping at your soul
trying to pull yours close to hers
but your body won't let you go
why did you lose her? The Ocean's Curse...

Her heart belongs to the sea
her spirit lost to its depths
heavy reality brings you to your knee
the calm waters mocking her death

Poignant, sad, powerful...damn. Flashbacks of a drowning, perhaps? Very twisted & intense. Excellent job!

This is a good read. I felt like an elder is telling me a tale from long ago in a forest by the sea and I'm sitting near a campfire, owls can be heard in the distance. The elder's voice cracks along with the flame and, in my mind, the images of what you've written slowly plays. Welcome to poetry soup!!!
