Heart of Sand

It has been dragged down
And with the weight of rocks
I remain immobile
Glaring in defiance at the spotlight
Threatening to blind me.

It seems to me
Like it started and ends here
Only here
The now
The present
This moment

If I wish hard enough
I wonder:
Will I be engraved in sand?
Or a wall of hearts?
Thumping…suspended…thumping…
Till my release comes…
