Heart of Falsehood

I know a man who is in mourning
     For cruel Fate has kept him pinned
Forever on the side of losing
     When falling in love is living in sin.

The Bride is soon to wear her ring,
     Her house already has a host;
Desire can not bring to a standstill
     Yearning what's forbidden most.

Someone will win, someone will lose;
     Whose happy end the Bride will choose?
It matters not, it matters most;
     Both ends forfeit a heavy cost.
