Heart and Soul
When we met a chance encounter,
Unplanned fate or destiny?
I thought it was epic, something
Meant to be.
An unexpected good fortune,
How could I dismiss it?
I was swept away,
I hate to admit it.
It took my breath away,
What a surprise.
What I saw, was each
Other in our eyes.
I was struck by the wonder,
This was something real.
Now it's become my,
Achille's heel.
It was so rare and
Deeply intense.
I never thought our love
Would die and ferment.
I marveled at the encounter
And the uniqueness.
You're my poison,
My living weakness.
I knew it would never happen again,
This blessing I stumbled upon.
I never considered our love,
You would pull the plug-on.
I assumed it was the right place,
The right time.
I recognized the merging
Of the two, as sublime.
I remember that spontaneous moment,
When the world stood still.
Now, the after-taste of a
Dead love's bitter pill.
It was an experience beyond
My control.
I loved her with
All my heart and soul.
