He Was Just a Man

A long ship
Dark and black
Slowly drifts down the Nile
Slaves using long poles
Priests with incense and myrrh
A weeping queen
Sons and daughters
Heirs to an eternal dynasty
All accompany the fallen king
Wrapped in a shroud of gauze
Covered with jade, ebony and gold
Here lies the son of Ra
The reason the sun rose and set
He was born a boy
Lived as a king
And he died as a god
But to his mourning queen
To his children
Under the death mask made of gold
This man was not a king
This man was not a god
He was a husband
He was a father
He was just a man
And he will be missed

This is excellent dear Robert, even though he carried such titles he was still just a man. Way to go!! Thank you for stopping by to comment, always appreciate.
