He Should Have Said This Before the Battle

Heroic General, I've long been your friend,
but everything in this world must end.
Headlines read, "another horse shot from under...".
Is it really any wonder
that it's come to this? Of course,
you'll need to get another horse.

Talk to "Mr. Ed." I hear he's got some specials going this week on hobby-horses and seahorses. ~ Horace and Jasper

wow, I just found that my great-grandfather, who was partners with his brother, has one named after him, the Benjamin Crandall, hobby-horse. Exciting. I think the DNA must be causing me to write poems about horses.

Haha, just looked up Horace and Jasper! For hobby-horses, you can do no better than a "Crandall hobby horse". Google that to share the excitement of when my great-great grandfather's brother, Jesse Armour Crandall, of Brooklyn, NY, invented his own version of the hobby-horse, whose patented double springs dominated the riding toys market for years. Sad to say, I haven't lived up to the promise of what one might expect from such accomplished ancestors.
