He Loves Me

HE LOVES ME I wake up in the morning and I hear the birds all singing in the tops of the trees; I get to thinking that the Lord has given to each bird a special song for me. And then I see the flowers blooming in the fields so green and everything I see Reminds me that the Lord above is looking down from heaven and says He loves me. I can see His work in skies so blue or in a rainbow of a stormy summer day, And when the night has fallen I look up into the heavens and I start to pray, “Dear Jesus, how I thank You for these blessings that You’ve given for us to employ, And how I thank You for the way You saved my soul from sin’s dismay and gave me joy. I thank You for the way You gave Your Spirit to infill me and to set me free, But most of all I thank You now that I can look to You and know You love me. Some day in heaven’s mansions I will see the blessed Lord of whom I sing and tell, And I will thank Him for the day He came to die to save me from eternal hell. I’ll gaze in wonder at the sights of heaven’s glorious mansions that He made to see, And then I’ll bow before Him, praise and thank and then adore Him for He loved me. These words written to “Something Stupid.”
