How Did I Get Here!

My name is May Flaunders and my age is just four.
I remember my friends, Bob and Sally Gilmore.
And then a time came when I thought, Oh my dear.
Where has time gone, how did I get here!
Five, six, seven, eight and nine all gone by the way
cause I celebrated being ten today.

I can't help but wonder about my friends Bob and Sal
who moved to Canada this time last year.
My how time flies when we're having fun
but goodness, how did I get here!

I've worked all through school, passed all my exams
sixteen going on eighteen with feelings of confusion and fear.
I cannot believe all the things I have done.
Now thirty plus and wed with a son.
A job that fulfils me with good cheer.
But blooming heck, how did I get here!

I'm a Grandma now soon to retire
with a grandson to fill my days.
But I'll be ready when he asks,
"Grandma were you born in the olden days?"
And I'll look upon him filled with pride as I tell
him without any fear, cause it no longer matters
what anyone say's or the thoughts of how I got here!
