Haunted Path

Spooky Halloween Rhyme 8-16 Lines 10-19-23 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Haunted Path Ebony mists disguise a windswept path, Unseen fingers rustle decaying leaves Fleshless moans shroud the vanishing footpath Vertigos of terror without reprieve. Shadows breathe in a rising rancid breath, Footsteps crunch like brittle bones in flight As fleshless hands stir boiling shibboleth, Dry thunder flashes through this hallowed night. Bewitched tree roots entangle fleeing feet Chains of lightning rumble in ragged streams Free falling into depths of darkness’ heat Like rusty hinges severed curses scream Trapped in cloaks of silence so eerie - Entombed in crypts of muteness, manic - Dim veils, confusion, cast spells so dreary Path lost in webs edged in spooky panic.

I think I took that path going home from the pub one night… or was that just a nightmare? A smashing, spooky win, Sam. Congrats. Terry

You’ve written a very descriptively moving poem on haunted path, so very well crafted with excellent diction. Theres so many lines that stood out for me in this. But before that let me highlight how catchy and captivating your rhymes are, so unique and sumptuous ! “ Dry thunder flashes through this hallowed night” this line is so unique and so very well articulated along with so many other spine tingling lines that fits the halloween energy too. Spookiness flowing in sheer eloquence! Loved it

Hi Inky, thank you ever so much for your amazing feedback! I am so happy that spookiness flowed through these lines. Have to admit I did spend quite a bit of time working to create that haunted feeling of hair raising eeriness when our imaginations run wild and out of control! I am so glad you loved this poem. It's never a good idea to walk a haunted path on Halloween night alone. Thanks for walking with me!! Blessings to you!
