Notes About The Poem

A Spooky Haunted Poem 8-12 Lines Of Rhyme Poetry Contest Sponsored by: Tania Kitchin Written 10/21/2025

Haunted House

Ghostly screams and unseen hands rouse,
with no peace, even for a field mouse
in an unearthly old tilted haunted house.

Creeping spider quickly cowers and ebb
into the murkiness on its old, tattered cobweb.

The silken-midnight cat's shadow came on silent paws,
paused on the stairs and sharpened its murderous claws.

There was a knock-knock-knocking at the door.
At the top of her lungs, the witch, with a roar,
clenched her wrist and screamed. Is that you, Thor?
Thor opened the door howling. Where are you keeping
the wanted children that are still sleeping.

A step on the great beyond, eh! Those outer limits where my other half waits back to civility. The normalcy of life is when it's Dear Abbey-normal. Aloha, my friend.

a fabulous Halloween poem, complete with some scary elements. I especially liked: Creeping spider quickly cowers and ebb into the murkiness on its old, tattered cobweb nicely done!

Dear Eve, O how it creaked and clawed its way right into Halloween’s heart. It felt like a haunted lullaby with teeth. You certainly made the shadows dance. Autumn Blessings, Dear Eve, Daniel
