Hat For All Seasons

lightly tattered ribbons still smooth as silk 
flowered appliqués lightly pressed on soft brocade
of tangerine, mint and blue and white milk.
wide-brimmed hat of memories that will not fade
snuggling my wind-blown mane through seasons’ shade


treasured top gear worn at beaches and balls 
sewn by grandma as debut gift  from love’s thread 
through passing years i frolicked with recalls ,
edged by her heart  fluttering deepest red
neatly framed, hat moments still sway on my head
