Happy New Year
A VERY VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR!
I wish to wish you my dear
A very very happy new year!
But I can’t do the same,
Because, I have a fear
That you my get angry and say
“Hello Mr.! Hello Mr.! Hey!
What’s the relation between us, say?
How did you come all the way
To address me this way and dare
To wish me a happy new year?
I wish to wish you my dear
A very very happy new year!
But I can’t do the same,
Because, I have a fear.
I wish to open my heart-book and say
How I pass my night and day;
But I’m afraid that you may say
“Get instantly off my way!
I’m not going, not going ever
To accept you as my lover”!
I wish to wish you my dear
A very very happy new year!
But I can’t do the same,
Because, I have a fear
I wish to say that I’m fully bored
With this life without you, by Lord!
Pulls me towards you an unseen cord
N’ you’re dearer to me than guineas’ hoard!
But I can’t say it my dear!
Because, I have a fear.
I wish to wish you my dear
A very very happy new year!
But I can’t say it my dear!
Because, I have a fear.
I wish to say “God keep you whole the year
Happy, joyous, cheerful, free of fear!
May success kiss your feet everywhere!
N’ may never come into your eyes a tear!”
But I can’t say it my dear!
Because, I have a fear.
