Notes About The Poem

Listen to poem:

Happy Birthday to Me on Route 65

I’m doin’ 65 in my car
in life’s fast lane bound,
it feels like I’m speedin’
but I’m slowin’ down

My grindin’ gears drag,
odometer is off the chart,
the motor is still runnin’
but needs a kickstart

Lot less gas in the tank
and radiator is leakin’,
the old tyres are bald
and my chassis creakin’

Transmission slips a lot
yet in top gear really rips,
crankshaft still works
but only on short trips

Valves need replacin'
and gaskets hot cinders,
pistons are pumpin' still
but not on all cylinders

Temp gauge in the red
and oil light is flashin',
the rev counter is stuck
but still gets a thrashin'

The booty trunk is full
and my rear axle rides low,
I smell gas and smoke cos
my tailpipe does blow

The grille needs work
just as under the hood,
body showin’ its age
and brakes ain't good

The leather is all worn
and lost its smooth skin,
many years peeled away
the shiny chrome trim

But I'm still on the road
and mean to get my kicks,
God willin’ here I come
next year on Route 66

So clever :) How do you turn poems into songs?

I use SUNO AI. It’s an AI platform for generating music. Very user friendly with a great sound. You post your lyrics and put in your prompts (type of vocal, instruments, mood, and music genre etc) and click create. It’s that simple. Once you’ve got the song you’re happy with you download it to your computer. To upload to the Soup you turn it into an mp3 audio file. Hope that helps.

Keith, this is SO creative. You have skillfully maintained the detailed theme throughout. CONGRATS on your well-deserved win. I've got nine years on you. I'm still kickin'--just not very high! Janice

Hi there, Janice. Good to see your motor is still running. I’m due for an oil change and my lifetime warranty check up in six months. The wife tells me I have no filter so maybe that explains a few things. See ya on the road sometime.

Sounds like you know your way around cars. Unlike you I no longer know my way around the computer's that have taken this small talent. Great write, I will be sixty eight this coming July. I live two miles from where I was raised. Talk about circles. Take care sir, and my best.

I can still remember when I could get up off the floor so easily. Happy Birthday.

A little wax and buff and you’ll be all new again swinging from the ceilings.

I’m doing my best but I’m trying to avoid places like Death Valley and Devil’s Canyon and Hells Gate IYKWIM! If I see ya on my travels I’ll stop and pick you up. We’ll sing road songs and recite poetry under the stars to entertain fellow travellers. Some verse for the megaverse! Cheers, Anchorman.

"Congratulations" Happy 65th Birthday to You..... I love how you wrote this. Maybe, think about printing it off & framing for your wall. Hope you have a Great/Blessed ~ Day/Year to come writing away...................

Thank you, Paula. There’s a lot of my vintage and model rusting in a junkyard pile somewhere but I’m still heading for the sunset following those white lines. Which reminds me, I better get some jumper cables. Cheers!

the mechanic told me my "check engine" light was on....I told him, "I know, I checked, it's still there"

lol. I ignore all the flashing lights and gauges and just drive like the wind. The road to hell is paved with good intentions.
