Happy Birthday Jesus
Happy birthday Jesus, I'm sorry I have no gift to bring.
There is nothing that I own, befitting to give a king.
I don’t have a drum on which I can play you a song.
I try to say I love you but my words just come out all wrong.
I would love to give you my boat so you can sail out on the sea.
Then I remembered you walk on water and thought how silly that would be.
Then I thought of my pickup with its heated leather seats.
You could drive it out in the country or cruise down our simple city streets.
I love my old truck, but it has a lot of miles and it’s worn a bit.
Then I thought your throne in heaven is probably a much nicer place to sit.
I have two things that I treasure and I use here every day.
I actually got them from you and they’ve helped to guide my way.
I have my paper and pen with these two gifts from you I write.
I’ll fill this paper with love and swing my pen with all of my might.
I give you my heart and soul with every letter and word I can find.
Happy Birthday Jesus, please accept this gift from me in kind.
