Happy Birthday America
Good morning, America.
It's nice to spend a few quiet moments with you,
moments of brief and sweet reflections that are as real
to me as the morning dew. Such reflections represent
a small fraction of the 73 years spent within your borders.
Born within your ocean-surrounded borders, I am proud
to be called an American.
My mother gave birth to me in your Dixie Delta.
I met and married my wife in your great Mid-
Western Metropolis, where I also graduated
from college. I once spent a night and a day
in your New York City, home of Miss Liberty.
Our first child was born in your DairyLand
of Southern Wisconsin. A few years later we
took our hearts to your city by the Bay on the
West Coast, but packed up our hearts with us
8 years later and took them along with our
three kids to Sacramento Valley.
Yes, America, I just wanted you to know on
your birthday that when I added up all the
good and subtracted the bad experiences,
being a citizen of this great country has
gone well for me. To God, I am grateful.
Yes, America, as we prepare and anticipate
celebrating your birthday, I just wanted
to wish you a happy 247th.
A citizen for life,
Sitruc
