Hangin' On

I don't need a Cadillac or a Mercedes Benz
I just need a bartender who'll listen to my sins

Everybody called her Charlotte but I called her mine
Least I did 'til he showed up and told her she was fine

He came here from the city, a dude with shiny shoes
Told her she was pretty, didn't take her long to choose

I looked at my scuffed up boots and knew I'd lost the game
Never told her all the things I thought of just the same

I should have said,"I love you", and even told her why
Someone was bound to tell her and show up by and by

A guitar, a fiddle and a broken hearted song
And a friendly bartender that keeps me hangin' on
