Hand Shake

She called, stopped me and reached out… Her hand For me to shake, I was trying to steady stand Looking at her soft opened palm I was trying to keep calm But was nervous and hesitating I could feel the cold sweat on my forehead Then I realized she’s been too long waiting I was fixing my eyes on her opened palm Then I was slowly lifting my head to look up on her eyes But I was afraid of them and their well known charm So I lowered my head again looking at the same place It’s so much safer to avoid those eyes and face I was starting to wonder “why is she standing there With no sound or movement she was to make?” Time just stopped when I saw her I don’t know whether hours, minutes or seconds It did take I thought “why would place or time matter If I had her here?” All my dreams and hopes are far away But when I see her, they all come so near When she is in sight, they all are When she’s gone, they disappear I was saddened because I knew she’d Be soon gone, it made my heart ache But all I could do was to take her hand in mine To shake!
