Hand Picked Roses and Supermarket Chocolates

This boy picked some roses for his girlfriend,
Cause he didn’t have much money to spend.
He bought chocolates from the supermarket
Wrapped in tissue in a plastic basket.

This girl thought very little of herself,
Was scared of being left behind on the shelf.
Each night and day she’d think of her boyfriend
In constant dread it would come to an end.

This boy and this girl lasted a few years,
Realised was this one girl’s darkest fears.
In time they had ceased loving each other
And weren’t kindly towards one another.
