Halloween Night

Among the masked faces and coloured smoke, All I remember is the shadow that spoke. I won’t forget how loud it did scream, It still lingers… creeping into my dreams. Away from my friends I stood there alone On an empty road, thinking of the souls forlorn. Screams and wails I suddenly heard: From a shadow… leaning on an old barrier. It didn’t stop, though I struggled hard Until I saw the road leading to an old graveyard. The screams echoed, but I knocked down flat. Someone had carried me away, and I was out of that. But in all my life, I never had known, Any news from the shadow that spoke. 10/14/2018
