Haitian Friends

. Ah yes my once poetic visions of her dark brown skin flush ‘gainst mine Wooden bowls of rice fish and exotic greens and warm wine chilled at my request And now her parched lips her dry over exposed skin her tattered flesh Can you feel my heart beating Haitian friends

It sounds like she was not in good shape, with the tattered flesh! What a contrast you show here of a woman once so beautiful!

Oh, it's so sad to see an entire nation of people walking around with "tattered flesh," James. Indeed, you make us sense tremendous heartache when we recall what a handsome people they are. Terrific poem, James! Much love, Carolyn (I'm out of town and trying to play a bit of catch up.)
