Haitian Friends
.
Ah yes
my once poetic visions of her
dark brown skin
flush ‘gainst mine
Wooden bowls of rice
fish
and exotic greens
and warm wine
chilled at my request
And now
her parched lips
her dry
over exposed skin
her tattered flesh
Can you feel my heart beating
Haitian friends
