two shoes lie mirrored forgotten when spring cleaning - the wake remembered The use of 'lie' in line 1 is meant, a play on words to try and create a double image / feeling depending on how it is read. 1. Two shoes laying side by side, a mirror reflection of each other 2. The shoes, just by their presence there imply that they are used, which as the reader discovers later in the Haiku is in fact a lie.
