Hades
Come take a journey to my future,
it’s quite a long way off
The sun has grown into a red giant
earths surface is utterly scorched
Oceans have evaporated into space,
our planet has turned to dust
The moon is no longer in orbit,
I wander aimless on a white hot crust
Abandoned billions of years ago,
humanity fled to colonies on mars
When the terraforming went wrong,
they continued out towards the stars
I’ve been resurrected into this nightmare
made to witness my burning shame,
I’m able to breathe molten toxins,
but the price is eternal pain
Oh God I wish I’d believed you,
for I’ve inherited this awful hell
Left thirsting in vain forever,
on an infernos simmering shell
To think I seen this day coming
yet buried my head in the sand
Fiery embers run through each vein
the magma pours from my hands
Desperate to see one last image,
I tear an eyeball from my head
Pointing it back towards a face,
horror reflects the life I’ve led
And as the sun grows stronger,
I seek refuge inside earths core
Walls of plasma close all around me,
sealed in to burn forevermore
