Haba! Aids – I
Call her the greatest of killers
In the streets
Parrot men echo it
As others who echoed it
From the beginning
The clash tongues still ring like bells
Through the whole clan.
Ha-ha-ha! she is feared
What a demon!
AIDS, a wolf amid many sheep
Poor sheep slain turn by turn –
She is dreaded like darkness
Life is stifled
Threatened out of existence
The engine of the heart stops
As soon as one hears:
AIDS!
A stranger
Without father, without mother
Brother-less, clan-less;
Who agrees to be her sister?
Who shall be her country-man?
Who shall dance & drum with her?
Haba! AIDS
A born-loner
Whose victims dangle
On some hospital ropes
Hoping to wave a final bye to life!
