Gypsy Wind

The Gypsy wind must freely blow.
The mystery which no one may know:
From whence it comes and where it goes.
It travels on forever.

Wild hearted Gypsy wind, blow on
In search of distant lands unknown.
Till earth and sea and time are gone,
No bars nor chains can bind you.

The restless Gypsy wind of time
Calls hauntingly this soul of mine
With tempting wanderlust sublime
To join its endless wandering.

"Resist the call," sweet Reason cries.
"Contentment dwells 'neath home's blue skies.
The Gypsy wind breathes only lies
To lead a fool to sorrow."

I cannot go, wild Gypsy wind.
My heart would call me home again.
I'd hurry quickly back to spend
My life with those who love me.
