Guilty by Association
You was my Rider, I was your driver
You was my shoulder to lean on, we were survivors
You stayed on top of your shift, lived a honest living on the clock straight 9 to 5'n
For me it was the opposite I was on the block with it, I was straight grinding getting the knots putting that time in
They say opposites attract which is true to a degree & it's crazy it started with lust
Who would have thought we'd cross each other's paths, you & me, one with the mind of Einstein & the other being me, young wild & free, often regarded as rough
But smart with the bucks, for I know how to make a dollar no spit, even you can admit it
I was fitted with the heart of a hustler, I mind my business but keep my mind on business so help me straighten my collar than watch me go out & get it
While you're at work watching the clock
I'm moving that work on the block watching for cops
Stay trying to out muscle the hustle & lock my spot at the top
As long as I'm on top of my game you can't complain because you know there won't be no drop in our stocks
Your people doubt me & know nothing about me, my lifestyle is quite wild & I understand that
But nevermind the chatter because the only thing that matters is you get me & in your heart you know where I stand at
Holding my hand hoping he deal and Ace
You know me I stay thinking ahead but with putting so much thought into my enemies being the ones to bring end to me I didn't even think of the feds in the background whole time on a slow grind just building a case
Now I'm worried sick feeling paranoid with knots in my stomach
I can't sit still because I know it's real but I promise this is not what I wanted
What's even more painful is the sight of you pacing with your heart racing
Afraid of all the possible charges you're facing
But this life is a roll of the dice
From the clothes to the ice, everything in it is controlled with a price
So clearly it's to late to restart or make an excuse to try & take the pain from your heart
You respected the fact I never lied to you & you loved the life I provided you & you knew what you were getting into because it was explained from the start
But in the end we don't win, everything we obtained goes down the drain or they use it against us as we're cuffed on our way to be booked in at the closest station
We were caught off guard & since you counted profit instead of trying to stop it, it's a shame but we'll both be charged the same, even if you didn't do it you knew it so you're guilty by association.
