Guess Who 3
Lead singer in a band, he also played the guitar.
Wasn’t long before he became a star.
He wrote songs that have poetic lyrics.
And often had his fans at concerts in hysterics.
He wore colorful clothes and wild footwear.
Where ever he went people would stare.
A left handed guitar player, music he couldn’t read or write.
But everyone agreed his playing was out of site.
At 19 he left home, joined the army in the paratroop division.
He was injured in a jump and discharged but had a vision,
He created a new musical form that the band used in proportion.,
A revolutionary style of combining fuzz, feedback and controlled distortion.
His band was very experienced and a huge collection of songs was made.
Recording in a studio but toured the country, fans adored what they played.
Axis to their records were amazing songs that proved as love is bold.
He played with words for his songs as all good poets do, they unfold.
If he had walked along the watchtower and seen that train a comin
Through the purple haze, or if six hadda been nine, his guitar strummin
He had moved to England in 1966 and lived there for four years.
Not returning to live in the USA. After that leaving his fans in tears
