Growing Up
Growing up slowly in body and mind
Leaving the blunders and worries behind
Trying to be ripe in thought and in deed
Raising the plant and casting out the weed
Trying not to dwell on mistakes of past
Building a bridge that through the years will last
Trying to forget what happened before
Working hard instead for blessings and more
Trying to forgive one's wicked mistake
To clear your mind the next morning you wake
Spending much more time on walking forward
Trying to refrain from aging backwards
Thinking of good than of unpleasant things
Trying to savor the joy that life brings
Trying not much to kill the precious time
Doing instead some pleasant things that rhyme
