Growing In Wisdom

This journey was meant to be a mystery
designed to open eyes
 The road isn't paved
warnings of tests have been written
Pay heed to all that is seen
in time understanding will come
At times it may as if you are alone
your feet maybe tired from the steps that you take
 Everyday tested as metal
gleaming like a diamond
 Refusing to bend
the load far too great
 Crossing seas and rivers
nothing has been proven to stop you
 Spreading wings for flight
my vision is bright
 Dreams may come
refusing to live within them
Determined not to follow the fantasies of television
my path is divine
 My help come from afar
the wind at back
 Food nourish my soul
learning from wisdom of old
 In the midst of war
a pen has has yielded many
 In the time rest
thanks is given
 So far to go
looking back at steps taken
The ways of my fathers have been refined
inbred within was their desire
 Each day
a prayer leads me home

A stunning example of free verse that describes the evolution of a culture. Whenever we follow prayer, it leads us to a better place. Nicely done, Donny. Take care, Carolyn
