It derives from the Pennsylvania Dutch superstition that if a groundhog emerges from its burrow on this day and sees its shadow due to clear weather, it will retreat to its den, and winter will go on for six more weeks; if it does not see its shadow because of cloudiness, spring will arrive early.

Your line one creates an atmosphere of hope, line 2 paints a celestial masterpiece and line 3 introduces a sublime highlight. Haiku at it's best.A fave for me.

We can only hope. I know some parts of America have seen some harsh conditions this year. We have had some long lasting cold and some snow but none that stuck melting as it landed. I enjoyed reading the Haiku and the information. Your visit to my page was supportive. Sara
