Grimacing Sorrow

I’m afraid to speak up because I feel like I always say the wrong words
I’m happy to be your friend and companion like friendly, skyline birds
I don’t want to overwhelm you with my emotions of thousands of oceans
I didn’t mean to intervene with your happiness or pride…left behind in my commotions

I’m just a waste of space
Maybe, I’ve acted like a disgrace
I feel not good enough for our friendship sometimes
I feel I’m running out of time, trying out these worn-out rhymes

But, this time, I won’t be a downer…
I’m honest with how I feel — I avoid the shower
Because all it leads to is memories of him penetrating me as a child
Taking away the innocence away from me and leaving me in the dust of worrisome wrongdoings
But, it’s no one’s fault — I learned to take a wild child in me and become miserably mild
I’m deepening in my ruins…ruining all of me and then, leaves me empty inside with rusted, damp wings

I want to be positive once more
— I will run the extra mile
I’m hurt to the core and change is a challenging chore
Everyday, I struggle to smile

I just want you to understand where I stand
Everyday, I struggle to live life to the fullest
Just give me your hand and land with me in a lovely land
Where all our negativities and trials we detest turn to gold and leave out all the rest

I know I’ve been selfish as of lately
And frankly, I understand why deep down
I wish and pray you know where I’m coming from, buddy
And honestly, I’d rather not face reality’s demise with this all-too-familiar frown

So, I’ll smile away the pain as I go down the drain
Pretend someone loves me like I do
So, I’ll play this music in style and let the rain pour, draining all of me on this darksome train
You know, my life is freestyling freedom true

Meddling with a lifetime that could mend the broken heart I have

I want to be out of my captivity of loneliness
So, genuinely, I will climb out of it and get myself out of this mess
Because I’m done feeling sorry for myself now
Somehow, I took this vow to be hopeful and faithful, taking a final bow

Maybe, my life is over…but I’m beginning a journey overall
Perhaps, you don’t see my progress, but God does I guarantee
You have so much potential, encouragement, cheer and want the best for me, which helps me stand tall and get on the ball
Please know I love you, friend, I don’t want to let you go…unfree in the rainfall of radiantless, callous calamity

If I could be your cure or remedy for your issues or downfalls, I would volunteer to do so
If it’s meant to be or not to be, then I’ll let you know ahead of time and let our friendship grow

I melt in the sunshine of shame — I’ve awaited this special moment of unawkward words,
Spoken silently between us and I’m still this broken bird compared to the other skyline birds
I felt like I said the right words this time forward
But, we are a feather together as one bird

Overcome the waves of emotions as my mind heard more than a thousand times
Will you see through the ugly in my scars and wounds of wretchedness and penniless crimes
Or will you do your thing and set me free
From a fantasy I have lived temporarily?
It’s a good thing you got me back my solace and my peace through truth behind the lies
I never knew goodbyes from us would make me cry and boy, how time truly flies
