Grieving Notre Dame

Grieving Notre Dame

Lamenting for lost culture

History in tears!

* Notre Dame ( Our Lady) took 107 years to build between the 12th and 13th century and for 850 years stood as the guardian of Paris, alas , it took only 30 minutes to be turned into ashes by a vicious fire!

The world has been in tears of pain for this terrible loss, but to see the image of the iconic Golden Cross standing tall and seemingly undamaged, whilst surrounded with such debris and damage - it was truly a spiritual sight to behold - a message of hope dear Demetrios. With kindest thoughts Ann xx

I am pleased that the beautiful organ was left intact. It was a sad day and a reminder of how temporary things are in this world. The world made a collective gasp.

A terrible tragedy Demetrios, surely experts should have realised that with all the wood used in its construction that it was a potential fire risk, hopefully an enquiry will establish the facts. I am grateful that apart from injuries sustained by a fire fighter no body lost their life. A news report has said the main structure escaped the worst and apart from the steeple and timbered roof it will be rebuilt in about five years. Tom
