Grief and Happiness

Grief and Happiness
Giving thanks to God

Dear God I want to thank you,
In this, my solemn time of grief,
For sending family and friends
To help in finding some relief,

For reaching out to touch me,
Guided by your soothing hand,
For welcoming my life's mate
To her place in Promise Land.

I thank you for the many years
That you allowed her to be near
To let me hold her closely
And to whisper in her ear

Just how very much I cared for her
That our love would never die
You now have her there in heaven
For that, in happiness, I cry.

Until I follow her, please help me,
Make her proud of who she chose
Let her see that I still love her
Until my time on earth will close

She still resides within my heart
Her love will never go away
When I pass, please let me join her
For this, my God, I pray

Amen
