Grief
You feel bone tired, you lay down
You stay wide awake, mind blown
Eyes red, skin puffy, chest sore
You dont know about anything anymore
Everyone appears to treat you like a bomb
You understand this problem
Your heart is heavy, not on your sleeve
So it is the way of it with grief
You stare at nothing a lot
No one wants to know the cost
It’s then you go back in memory
They were a main character in your story
It will never be as it was then
Thinking of that brings the pain again
You say the word wish too much now
But you would give anything to know how
People wasting life away becomes your pet peeve
So it is the way of it with grief
Don’t want to hear the people say it gets easier, NO
Anger is easier but that’s not the way to go
You feel raw, wrung out, a shell
You wallow in your own personal hell
Time to you is irrelevent
All your patience is spent
You just want to wind back the time
To have one more day would be sublime
You throw up until its dry heave
So it is the way of it with grief
They are all stuck on repeat
Sorry for your loss, you feel beat
They are in a better place now
You don’t really see how
All you see is pain and tears
This is all your worst fears
Time to lay them in the ground
Say goodbye, dirt on the box, a final sound
You find it so very hard to leave
So it is the way of it with grief
Time does pass and it eases slowly still
Please don’t poke my façade, it takes a lot of skill
The pain and the memories stay
It will become bearable to think of them one day
But now it rips and tears you up inside
It will become hard to hide
Your thankful for the time you had, however breif
So it is the way of it with grief
