Greed and Grief

As not a person on the street
Nor as someone with much need
I confess I lie with Greed
They are taking care of me

It started with applause
Happiness without due cause
Which soon became all I sought
What depression that wish brought

For I thought about the end
And realized life depends
On the way I will to bend
To benefit these lifeless trends

And soon I realized
I won't feel love as you or I
So I selfishly decide
To disappear into the tide

But as I disappeared
My wish became my fear
For your face was filled with tears
I'm sorry I left you, my dear
