Great Apologies

my great apologies to you all
whom I have overruled and overshouted
thinking I knew what you needed and when
my great apologies to my children
if I didn't stand up and make enough fuss
when you needed an advocate
if I didn't shake down those teachers and kick them to the curb
when they
shot you down for original thinking
my greater apologies to my mother
who couldn't do any better
and didn't love me
I was the wrong daughter for you
but you were the wrong mother for me.
my great apologies to my love
my great love
for not coming to get you
sooner
I was busy
with our baby you know
and you had that
other family to tend to
my greatest apologies to myself
my self
for taking so long to
bring you out and
recognize you
now I'm done apologizing.

Beautiful piece where you express your thoughts coming full circle. Make no more apologies, friend. You are doing well to ponder these things! Donna
