Grateful and Guarded

I hold you like a fragile flame, A gift so rare, it has no name. Each moment with you feels divine, Yet fear whispers, "This isn’t mine." Your laughter lights the darkest skies, A truth reflected in your eyes. But as I bask in all you give, I tremble at the life I live. What if my love, so fierce, so strong, Could somehow steer us both to wrong? What if the weight of all I feel Becomes the hand that breaks the seal? You’re the dream I dared not chase, A haven found, a sacred place. And yet I fear this fragile thread Could fray beneath the words unsaid. So I’ll tread softly, step with care, For love like ours is rich, yet rare. Grateful always, but wary too— Afraid of losing all of you.
