Grandma's Angel Choir

My grandma neared her final breath As she was laid in bed. With all our fam’ly gathered ‘round, These special words she said. She said “I can see angels and They’re waiting here for me. Escort me home to Heaven, yes, Is what they’ll do you see.” She said that ev’ry one had held A candle colored red. As she’s going up to Heaven, They’ll light her way she said. As the members of the fam’ly then Began to look around, We could see no sign of them. No, they could not be found. She then began to say the names Of ev’ry cherub there As I sat right beside her in That blue hospital chair. I knew that time was coming fast And it would be here soon. But then the sound of singing had Begun to fill the room. It was the angel choir that My grandma saw that day. They were singing hymns of glory. Sweet sounds in ev’ry way. Then as she took her final breath And tears filled up our eyes, Our hearts were filled with sorrow, for Our grandma dear had died. ’Twas then the sound of angels wings Had fallen on our ears. Though it was sad for us, you see, My heart was filled with cheer. For I then knew and I was glad She’ll see unending days, For that sweet angelic choir, yes, Had carried her away.
