Grains of Sand

The sun is setting
Behind the clouds
The waves are crashing
On the shore
The sand is swallowing
Up my feet
The seagulls are soaring
In the sky

The beating of waves
Creates music in my head
The swiftness of the wind
Sends chills down my back
The color of the horizon
Fills my head with dreams
The smell of the ocean
Makes my mind tingle

The sand is silk
Beneath my feet
The sky is Heaven
Above my head
The water is stained glass
Off in front of me
And I am nothing but a grain of sand
On the beach of life

I like your poem, Jen, reminds me of a water side vacation. The gulls...How the yachtsmen hate the gulls for crapping on their gorgeous boats. I love the gulls and the water and I say, take your damn boats and go away. Big congrats on this selection. Love, daver
