Grace For a Day
I settled down
And got a little more
Out of myself
And into the life
I had left
I’m trying to do things
You would be
Proud of
Sense a relationship
Beneath the dynamics
Of a dove
Realistically
I want to venture out
Be more of the individual
Everyone looks to see
I’m thankful
For the days that
I held my head over
Coughed, sneezed
And had no idea
What to believe
I’m thankful
I have gotten to see twenty-two
In my worst ways
I want to find comfort
Next to you
I’m thankful
For days I was alone
For every Christmas
I had no one
And even more
I can now exhibit
The appreciation adored
When I finally do find
A family of my own
