Grace
I walk to You with my head hung down
I don’t look up and I don’t make a sound.
You lift up my chin, my eyes full of tears
You give me a smile as You scare away my fears.
One tear streams down, one after another
And You wipe them away just like a mother.
I can’t look at You, for I’ve failed You, I know
So I start to turn away but You tell me no.
You pull me into Your arms in a loving embrace
And the tears start to flow and cover my face.
You say it’s okay and You tell me it’s alright
You say don’t give up and that You’ll help me win this fight.
You say You forgive me and say it’s in the past
You tell me it doesn’t matter now for it’s eternity that will last.
You give me one last hug and send me on my way
I go, then I look back, to make sure it’s okay.
You smile at me then tell me to go
But first You tell me something I should already know
You say, “Don’t fret for I’m always by your side
And from me you will never have to hide.”
So I turn around and walk away
For You’re my Lord, the one whom I obey.
