Governed

I’ve lived a life ruled by others
And I shall not be governed by another

Not to be forgotten or forsaken
Against my will I will not be taken

Taken from my sanity
Not to live in inhumanity

A ruler controlled my thoughts in my mind
A young girl I was once left blind

Blind to ambitions and dreams I should have had
And I was lonely, hopeless, and left to be sad

For I no longer am ruled by the demon inside
And my hands are no longer bound and tied

I rule my life now and what is my destiny
For I have been given clemency

Free to be, free to live
For I have the world, so much to give
