Gotta Go Through

Hanging on to levee banks not long after the flood, I watch souls get washed away, caught up in rolling mud. Grabbed a page upon the wave, ‘twas torn by the rain, The last few words left to read told of lives lost in vain. Voices in the distant clouds cried out for some relief But the truth had long been lost to the last midnight thief. Salvation rode on bare wings that winds had hard torn, She’s been searching high and low for one that’s been reborn. Satan puts his hand up high for everyone to see, Stakes his claim quick to the throne he swears has become free. Suddenly it’s quiet now, even shadows stand still, Heartbeats shiver in the dark, a cross burns on a hill. Morning light breaks through the night and flickers ‘cross the skies, Somewhere from eternity a newborn baby cries.
