Got Fate

A youthful man
Newly wed
A baby on it's way
Was called to arms
From the State
And so he couldn't stay
He hugged his bride
With warm embrace
As he thought
Of all he'd miss
Then softly whispered
In her ear
I leave you with a kiss

The war was done
Who cared who won
For we know who's
Really losing
Some men will live
Some men must die
It's Fate that does
The choosing
A widow kneels
Besides a stone
As she has done
For years
Then stands, and says
"I must go. Love
I leave you with
my tears"
