Goodnight Mrs Windsor

Goodnight Mrs Windsor Thank you for your time We gave you quite a job to do You did that job just fine You gave your every moment To us all through thick and thin Now you’ve earned yourself a rest So have a good lie in No one now can do your job Half as good as you If your son should do just that Then half as good will do Your husband as he ever was Was patient through the wait He sent for you a rainbow And is waiting by the gate So goodnight Mrs Windsor And thank you for your time We gave you quite a job to do You did that job just fine

Just the right level for me Terry. Nit a Royalist but an admirer of Mrs Windsor. She stood out from the sleaze bags at the top of our society. PS excuse typos that creep in - suffer from both dyslexia and dyspraxia - you wouldn't believe how long this took to type.

Thanks, Terry. Had you not mentioned dyslexia I wouldn’t have guessed. If you spend much time on Facebook, where few seem to check what they’ve actually written, you’ll see that typos are as near as dammit compulsory. So you’re actually a trend setter. Terry

Ditto that, GW. With every respect to our marvellous Queen… I couldn’t bear another week, just yet awhile, of twenty four hour ‘King’ TV coverage. I think all the channels have ‘Queen’ on a continuous loop. It just gets a bit much.

"Was this well done of your Lady?" he asked. "Extremely well", she answered, "and as became the descendant of so many kings". Thank you for taking the time to pen this tribute. God bless. :) john

Thanks, Ilene. To have written one of those hearts and flowers obituaries, chock full of accolades whilst not coming across as insincere would take a better poet than I. This worked for me and seemed more fitting to the Queen as I saw her. Glad it worked for you too. Terry

There may be detractors, but I like the fact that many loved her. I’m afraid half of us automatically have great disdain for leaders here in the US based on party only, which is a bit sad.

Our Queen wasn’t a leader of the making and breaking of rules variety. She has been described as a constitutional monarch, some might say figurehead. Many people protest the cost of our royal family but I believe the cost per individual to be a pound or so per Uk citizen. The income they bring to the UK coffers is vast. What’s not to like? They’ve got a point about governmental leaders though.

Thanks, Deb. As David observed, The Queen was indeed an unassuming person. Regardless of the finery, regalia or pomp that enveloped her, she never gave the impression of thinking she was ‘A list’. Many supposed celebrities could learn a lot from her. Terry

Thanks, David. Wait for the anti-royals to start shouting. Frankly, President Branson or Blair fills me with dread. Terry

I’m not religious, Tom, but that rainbow was so perfectly timed it felt like it was sent for a purpose. I’m sure Charles will do just fine; he’s nobody’s fool. Terry
